  • your dealer experience?

    hey guys,

well after reading how someone had a less than fun experience at a dealer that i went to, after i said i had a great experience, im interested to know what others were like?

ive got both a bad and good experience.

    bad -

went in a couple of months ago to denlo in parramatta, and asked about the golf r (at the time i was enquiring for a mate who was overseas), and was basically told, theres a 20 month wait on one. if you want a gti we can help. and was basically told tough tits, cant help. me being in car sales also, i dont like that sort of response. i never give that sort of response to a customer.

    good -

walked into barloworld mascot last saturday april 2nd. initially to look at a 2nd hand r32, not knowing much about it, so went inside to speak to a sales guy, who mentioned the R. having not known the full story on the r i assumed it was just a gti with awd and a better tune. my initial thoughts on the car were that it had no character. hell hadnt even driven one! anyway had to go pick the gf up from work, we came back and sales guy gave us the keys to a black 3 door demo with dsg. said "take it for a run, see what your thoughts are" and man. this was awesome. never have i gone on a test drive of a vehicle, and said to myself, lets do that again. now me being a manual lover, i had to try the manual which i did thursday just gone, but it just confirmed the point that dsg is so much better. spoke about a price with the options i wanted, i mulled over it thursday night, friday afternoon i confirm the price and get the ball rolling on the car.

now im not saying denlo is a bad dealership altogether, just going by my experience. i know others have had fantastic experiences from them, and poor experiences from barlos. so please, feel free to post up of your experience!

when we first got our nbc we used a dealership and generally speaking they were pretty good. Now we use the same dealership but only for warranty work (use a VW/Audi independant mechanic for servicing and non warranty work).
Have not had any issues with them trying to fob us off on warranty stuff or arguments over it etc in fact they have pushed for things with VWA on my behalf...
They have changed the service manager a few times over the years and the dept has seemed to improve with the last one they hired... dropping off - picking up of the vehicle seems to run smoother... though it is a worry that they know me by name now... lol

lol at your thread QIK-GTI. It's interesting that after your posts yesterday and REXman's reply, you're now posting on the same topic elsewhere...
      Here is REXman's post:

Sorry but I could not disagree any more than that. To think we would recommend someone to go there is just bad - maybe - evil of me not to say anything.

Glad you had a good experience, but the "big steal" is being kind.

      Bunch of absolute rorter's.

The worst experience I have had buying ANY product, ever.

I would have to agree with REXman on this one. In fact, from the MK6 Recommended dealer thread, I think Mascot gets the most "don't go there' votes from anyone. My experiences from there have also been from average to bad.

As far as your experience with Denlo. I congratulate them for having the balls to do what people on these forums have been wanting dealers to do!!!
Stop taking orders for cars that you cannot supply.

If you're putting down a dealer for being honest and doing what the customers have been asking for... well then, it's no surprise why you like Mascot so much....

(*This contains my personal views based on personal experience with these two dealerships... as per every other thread on this topic, there are people who have good and bad experiences at every dealership, so take everything with a grain of salt)

reason why im posting this elsewhere is because i dont want to hijack the thread. which is completely off topic.

im not putting denlo down because they didnt want my order (far from it, if you read my post properly, i said i was enquiring for a mate because he was overseas, i didnt want one at the time) it was the attitude. if they had explained the story a bit more as to why, instead of just flat out going "nah cant help you" i probably would have gone back there seeing as its closer to home.

taking orders for cars you cant supply and taking orders for cars that cant be supplied within 3 months is a different story. im just happy ive got my name down for one. if i wanted a car asap, i could have gone n bought the demonstrator they have there. but i wanted other options, hence the order. i dont care that im waiting potentially 12 months, gives me time to save up more cash.

me being in sales i always like to hear about peoples experiences, good or bad.

Aah, well, if you just didn't want to hijack the thread, there are existing "recommended sales guy" threads in the MK6 forum.
Here is the one for Sydney

We usually encourage people to recommend the sales guy rather than the dealership, because EVERY dealership has "good" and "bad" people working for them, and they often move around a bit. To use REXman's example again, he went to Denlo after not getting any satisfaction from Chatswood Classic Cars, but then his sales guy moved to Chatswood anyway! (My sales guy is now there too!).

Even with sales guys though, different people react to different people differently... so again, experiences may vary

Thanks for that thread. I would mention the sales guy, but he has since left. The only other person I have dealt with is Nadine, who is in fleet.. The original salesperson Adrian, passed me on to Tulsa (not sure about spelling?) and when I went I today he wasn't in.

So found out today the three door is not being brought into Australia anymore. So I got a 5 door priced up. Heard some good things about David at central coast so went to ring him, and he is away on training. So spoke to one of his guys about a price also.

So that's the 3 door GTI that's not being bought in?

The original info was the 3 door R, but it would make sense it applies to the GTI too... although stilly sucky.

all i know is the three door R is not being brought in, unsure of the GTI. sucky to the max. what made me feel better is barlos gave me the keys to their demo once more and i went for a nice drive. shame the three door is no more though.

                    hahah...

when i first joined up last year i signed up and was looking into them, initially i was going to but held off for a while. wasnt on here for a while. then logged back on recently in regards to an S3, then a mate said "why dont you just go for the R?" lookin at the price i was going to pay for a used S3, may as well go that little bit more n get a new R.

reckon you could change the nick name to QIK-R?
