1.8l vs 2.0l 2e

Hey guys and gurls, I was wondering what is the difference between a 1.8l engine and the 2.0l 2e. I want to do a engine swap for something with a bit more grunt into my mk1 and noticed that allot more people opt for a 1.8l engine than a 2.0l is there a reason for this or just coincidence?

Also are the dimensions of the 2.0l block bigger than a 1.8l engine??

The 2.0L isn't the most rev happy engine and is geared towards economy. I believe the 1.8L revs more freely and is a more fun engine....

Also the ones who opt for a 1.8L .... they might be going 1.8T which makes more sense. If you are going to do an engine swap might as well make it awesome.
