  • Triple square / spline bit

Does anyone know where I can get a tool for the bolts pictured:

I have torx bits but this is different and I haven't seen them before. It's referred to as "M8 (8 mm) triple square" on Vortex.

you should be able to buy that at almost every automotive store. If not bunnings sell a kinchrome kit that has multiple bits in it for about $50 I think

These guys here are a nice bunch to deal with usually too www.autotools.com.au

Most tool shops have them too. Total Tools usually has them on the shelf.

Just Tools in South melbourne has them on the shelf up to M12 I think as well.
As for Total Tools in my dealings with my local store they have usually lived up to their name unfortunately but yep they stock them up to M12 as well

            lol Tim!

Thanks guys, I've had a look at a few auto stores but no luck. Total Tools doesn't list them as "triple square" so thought there might be another name we call them locally.

super chep auto ... repco ...
We don't stock em at SCA, and Repco doesn't either (that's what I was told).
Stangley none of my local car store's stocked anything but torx.
Just go to a local tool shop and ask for a Spline bit, although they may only stock 'kits'.

You should be able to get ABW brand from your local Repco or Motortraders store.
Or call your Snap-on man and you can get this low profile set. Cost around $100 and includes 14mm and 16mm bits,

it's a good addition to std spline bit set

Great help everyone. I'm hoping to pick up a single one instead of buying a complete set.

Picking up this old thread again.. I've tried asking the usual local cheapies (Super Cheap etc) with no luck, anywhere specific in Sydney I can get these? I too am mainly after the M8, not sure that I need any of the other sizes?

                            Ebay. Heaps on there.

I've found them to be reasonable on price, and stock a broad range of brands, from cheapies to expensive ones like Hazet and Stahlwille for the VAG enthusiast.
