License suspended speeding Help!

hey guys, just wanted to let everyone know i lost my license 3 months ago, and i should of already have it back by now, but some how the RTA or Police have screwed me over?
when i got my license taken off me on the spot by the cop he said i lost it for 3months, and on the suspension notice letter it says 3 months from the 5/12/10 till 10/3/11 these dates do not make any sense at all?? this means i get them back 3 months 1 week and 4 days? i should of have my license back on the 27th of February thats exactly 3 months since i lost my license. if any one can help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried calling up RTA or visited them and discussed about your issue? I was in a similar predicament (i.e. licence confiscated on the spot) but my period of suspension was exactly the correct number of months.

went down today, they said its 3 months and that they dont count the weeks or days for some stupid reason. so pretty much the date the officer put down on my suspension notice is the date that i get them guess i have to wait it out.

just an update went to the rta today and they told me i get my license tomro, thats all fine, but they said ill get another suspension notice in the mail, this time im getting my license suspended because of demerit pionts for another 3 months?? this is all ****ed up atm, cant belive they didnt tell me about this and its all bull****, i get to drive for 2 weeks untill my license gets suspended again. Has this happend to anyone?

Whilst it would be preferred that they advised you that you ran out of demerit points when they issued the suspension, the matters are technically seperate.
The RTA are quite clear on the penalties for exceeding your demerit point allocation, and suspension periods for speeding, and that these stack if both are concurrent.

Did you not know how many points you had, or how many you lost?
the number you lost should be on the ticket itself..

This has happened to me, I though it was pretty rough at the time as well.

Appeal the second 3 months, you'll get a court date, do well at the Traffic Offenders course, new court date > free to go. Hopefully. depends on your conditions/attitude/dress sense/manner in court etc.

i did not know how many pionts i had (i had full points havent lost any), and the the suspension notice does not say how many pionts i lost.

Is it really worth apealing it?? how long does it take and how much would it cost for court?

I don't know how old you are ,but how on earth did you lose 12 points ,you should of realized that you were getting close to the limit your allowed , i drive a similar car to you but i drive to the road rules and still have 12 points which has just been increased to 13 having a heavy drivers license, so in the future just slow down you just might save someones life .

The suspension notice won't mention points, the original traffic offense should
All of mine have.

You can often choose 12month good behavior bond instead of suspension if you run out of points,
but from memory there's zero tolerance and if you do slip up the penalties are harder again.

How did you lose 12 points in one go?

Well if your on your P's in QLD you only have 4 points, so id assume it would be the same down there. so if hes on those its not so hard to lose.

i found out i only have 4 points to start off with, and i lost 5 points when i got done speeding. And yes im a P plater (P1 provisional)
