Maybe a do a Aussie Scene article where you have single pics and a write up on each state. Get the "nicer" VWWatercooled cars from each state togther and some group shots, rolling and projects on the ball.
Other than some people like Alex G's Mk1, Stu French's Mk1, Mike H in Tassie with his Mk1 caddy, REVNIT with his Mk1 build, american Jay with his R32, NoDubSteve's VR6, Van's (ssman) Polo I dont think there is anything in Oz up to PVW standards yet. Im not syaing we dont have any cool cars but do we have anything that is 4 page feature worthy?
So instead why dont we show them our "scene" as aposed to just one single car. Just my 2cents
If you're prepared to fly, definitely Chris' VR6 and the black one as well (should be finished soon). Byza wanted to shoot them as well so that could work out.
I want (and Im sure Dom want's) the car to come from here, but the VWG guys have the mk5''s pretty much covered
What I posted over there:
I'd have to give the 2 big players, Jigglypuff and Anthony the votes.
Reasons:
complete package, not one are of the car has been missed.
both have done a lot to improve the VW scene in australia (particularly in the go department)
HPA turbo in Aus is fairly uncommon, haven't seen many ABT sportsline cars around the world (mk5) either.
Mk5 is THE car, for so many reasons, such an awesome package to start with and 90% of the hard work is done for you.
In Dom's case, it needs to be something the full quid to help get him off the ground. Something that hasn't been seen before, so that it sticks.
Location wise, Dom will find something mind blowing around Sydney
Just my 2c
and
Yeah could always collage a few cars together and be a bit diverse to show your talents.
Teaser some of the other cars but have the full feature on Jig or something?
Jays R32 or Chris's Vr6...both have amazing stories that would be complimented with some outrageously awesome photos taken by your truly, Domenic D'arci.
This is a great opportunity for you mate and I wish you all the best with it.
It is really hard to say what you should choose - but I reckon that Stu would be not finished enough to have you shoot his car which is a shame, but there are always future issues right!
It will really come down to what part of the 'scene' you are wanting to focus on - but my 5c is that if you go for something more retro for your shoot then you have a good opportunity to make shots that are not simply 'same old' MKIV/V GTI shots.
To create an article you need some depth to the car in it's development and story too - so maybe the suggestion of Chris' car is appropriate.
try and get something old sckool Dom, PVW is always full of new cars or mk2's with 20v T OEM+
WaterBoys dads cars would be an interesting write up!
My olamns car is no way in show condition but does have a long history. Owned it for 25 years done a lot of racing and been built by him for fun. Pretty much everything has been changed for modified.
I know my Dad would be pretty happy to do the feature. He has some new wheels on the way atm so im not sure how long Dom has for the feature.

it doesnt have to be a show car to be in the mag (even tho if you read it these days it is!!!)
but they just done a great write up on 3 mk1's track cars, I think the history of your dads car would be a awesome read.
Also it being de-stroked 16v is also very interesting
