Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has encountered the need that other drivers have to beat the Golf off at the lights or floor it just to show you can overtake a Golf on the freeway. I've noticed it heaps lately, though mainly when they are driving too slow and I try to overtake and the ijats speed up significantly.

    Cheers,
    Drew.

Up here in Brisbane, and especially on the Gold Coast, that's just called "driving". I don't think it's limited to Golf's either.

Just part of the street racing mentality that's too common both out there and unfortunately on this forum also.

It's called the Traffic Light GP.
Lots of people do it in lots of cars to many other people in many other cars.
I put it down to impatience.

It never happens to me. I wish it would. My car doesn't really do slow, so I'd wish they'd try.

It's stall, or GO! They are the options.

Oh, and I've ordered some heat tape too thanks Greg.

Seal that box mate, it'll help the transition from stall to GO at the lights!

I find I get other driviers trying to mate with my car! I've had 8 near misses the last fortnight, all of which were when I was not in the wrong ie: driving sensibly-speed limit, hands on the wheel, parents in the car...)

i get a lot of friendly people asking me what my car is...and a lot of people driving at 30km/h...and occasionally in penrith i get people trying to spit at my car whilst doing 100km/h cause they wear capes and drive commadores

beats having them drive 5-10km slower than the speed limit and roll away from lights! just over christmas we rented a cop car (white falcon xr6) to drive from the gold coast to newcastle to do 5-10km/h under the speed limit down the pacific mwy for 10 annoying hours
Driving the coal. Low and rattly.

That's ridiculous, this happens to me as well, and I do nothing to provoke it. Sad as.

the most annoying part is when they scream off at the lights, you let them go because u cbf, and u end up kicking yourself for it in the end because after they have screamed off and apparently "beat u" they slow down to a speed UNDER the limit!!

Haahahah. That's so true... I think it's because the majority of Boost Cruising is from Brisbane.
