Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I must say that I'm thoroughly impressed with Top Gear USA.

I'm possibly in a lot better position to become endeared to the show than most, having already been well aware of Tanner Foust and his personality from racing events and interviews I've seen him in, and because I'm a huge NASCAR Sprint Cup fan, I've literally watched hours and hours of (usually ~5 minute shorts) of Rutledge Wood. I've no idea who Adam Ferrara was though (however, looking back I realised I had seen him in various TV shows... unmemorable, heh).

I agree that some of the earlier stuff seemed a bit forced (Viper vs Cobra etc). But as the season has come along, they've got more comfortable with each other, I've probably got more comfortable with them, and I really enjoyed it. I would be seriously disappointed if this didn't return for season 2! Whereas Top Gear Australia I would probably be disappointed if it finished season 3

Tanner has such awesome car control. He'll always take the "drivers car" of the lot. He is a bit of a sour puss if he's not winning, but I like his "sly" humour.
Adam is about all things BIG and classic. He's a typical Italian-American and I love his "fearless" (reckless? hehe) approach to several of the challenges.
Rutledge - well, he's the odd-ball and wildcard of the group. You never quite know what he'll turn up with. I also like his happy-go-lucky approach to everything. He's practically always positive and cheerful (given his NASCAR and Alabama background, that's kinda understandable).

Anyway, if you like Top Gear UK, head on over to Finalgear and grab Top Gear USA. It's well worth it

I agree with all of this.
In fact, after watching the US series the UK one seems to be a little less funny.

I also like the fact that the US series focus's on the tuning side of the industry and the guest are more relatable than the uk series (some radio host normally???)

Best episode so far was the Alaska special with the 4x4 utes.
I really hope they bring this back for a second season.
Also that they extend the show to a full length episode rather than 42 minutes due to adverts.
