Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Been playing this pretty much every day and its still great fun, but at the point where its becoming a challenge without the right cars and B spec drivers with no balls... 900hp Gallardo is mega fun but just doesnt cut it in some races, time for a proper race car

Yeah thats like me I need a go every night pretty much! Addicted!! I have just stuck to A-Spec so far will try B-Spec soon tho. Yeah its all about getting the right car for the different races. I just read up on what races give you what cars when you gold them like the 'Ride the Wind' challenge where you win the Minolta which just flogs most cars and is great for alot of the other races.

Played Gt5 at a mates place over the weekend and found bits of it very annoying - for the life of me i couldnt figure out how to turn off the in-car music and getting a going through the rigmarole of getting a prize car was a real PITA. It would be better if prize cars went straight to the garage like in previous GT versions.

I have one in the game. Just won the Tuners Challenge last night and won an HPA R32 with Stage II Twin Turbo kit. Can't wait to try it out...

Goes like the clappers, just needs some tighter suspension and little tune

About half way through lvl24 in SpecA.

                    Favourite cars I own:
Corvette zr1 Race modification. - 800bhp+ awesomeness with max downforce in settings.
Formula Gran Turismo. - well its super light, super quick, and I won the Dreamcar challenge with it

                      • Just made level 24 after grinding out the Laguna Seca track on American Championship in a fully modified Corvette ZR1. Took a few hours!! Bought the Formula Gran Turismo and had a go of the first Formula GT race. Damn its hard!! Much less time to react! Will give the Dreamcar series a run too. Damn XP and levelling is soo slooooow now. At least I can do the Level 24 AMG challenge which should bring in some decent XP.

                        • You gotta play this game with a decent wheel setup... Logitech G25/G27, new thrustmaster (must have force feedback and not feel like a toy)... what ever you can afford. It really enhances the driving experience.

I have setup a 'racing cockpit', GT5 is not the only game I play, I play PC sims aswell, Grid, Blur, iRacing, rfactor so I will make great use of this rig.Its a Logitech G27. Fully home made PVC racing rig. I got the shape and idea from the net (its not my own design, but have adjusted the size that best suits me). Made from 50mm PVC pipes, a few 88deg joints, a few T joints, a few 90deg joints, PVC cement and a splach of matt black pain. Oh, btw... the base of my office chair is temporary until i get a decent seat (office seat is a bit low too but comfortable enough).

                          • Nice setup mate, looks pretty neat and no where near as big and bulky as some of the ones you can buy off the net/shops.
What you reckon the setup cost to build? (minus the wheel)

                            • LOL I'm using a bunnings work/saw horse with the pedals on the floor so I can sit on the couch. It isn't perfect but beats spending $200+ on a wheel stand pro which I don't think will work that well for my application.
