There are more VW cars you can win in events, and many that appear in the used car dealerships. R32s, mk1 Golfs, Polos, Lupo... including Cup editions etc etc.
I'm up to lvl18 in the game, had it for a week, haven't come across any R's or Mk6's yet, doubt they have any.
I believe the brakes get upgraded automatically when you add mods, a bit weird, but thats what it seems like, coz I'm stopping a 650bhp 1970s R/T 440 too quick for it to still have the standard breaks it had pre-modding.
Have you seen any MkV R32s? Didn't see it on the GT5 car list.
True, but I don't see 5 years of development. Its good but its not great.
Don't get me wrong- I think it's woeful. I mentioned earlier that I don't think it's a step up (in quality) from prologue at all. If the "insider comments" are true then Sony are mad. Should have released the GT5 that was almost ready- then started development on GT6 in 1080p 60ffs... Either way- xbox have leg up in the driving stakes thanks to a 12 month old game.

Got mine on the morning it came out. Very disappointed. 5 years in the making and the only thing it has over GT4 is the graphics.
Bought a lambo....that you cant turbo!!!, threw an exhaust on it, go for a test drive and there are two massive jap cannons sticking out the back. Not only that but the car sounds like a fly, worse than my Type R Civic. So many things i hate about it!
Why do you have to unlock colors?
What the hell is with the 'standard' and 'premium' car bs!?
Why are there no brake upgrades?
Why does the car snap back so hard when you try and drift? Cars don't act that way in real life!!
Hardly any throttle or brake control even when you use R2 and L2.
Built a 400hp civic and it feels like its standard. When i built a 400hp civic in Forza i was able to spin the wheels in top gear.
Damage depends on the car. Only race cars can have panels that fall off, other cars like the lambo do have damage but panels dont fall off and cars like the R35 just have 'squash' damage....it looks so cheap.
No custom decals and you can only paint in colors of other cars you have in your garage, so if you dont own a yellow car you cant paint a car in yellow. There is however a race package like in GT1 and 2 where you pay a whole bunch of credits and get the full body kit, wing and race paint.

Yeh I played all the Forza's between GT games and they really did make up a lot of ground. Given the short period of time they were able to get Forza 3 out after #2 and the quality of it, shows that you don't need 5 years to develop a game.
Noticed a few negative comments regarding GT5, but I really am enjoying it now especially since I bought my Logitech Driving Force GT wheel and pedals. Wanted a G25 or G27 but couldn't really afford them at the moment and the Driving Force GT is still a bloody good wheel for $138 at DSE.
I just leveled up to 13 in GT mode and are having a blast! The Nurburgring Nordschliefe special event is awesome! Geez you can get some speed around that track, really gives you an appreciation of how bloody good some top racing drivers are. Wasted a bit of money doing up some cars like my 700hp R34 Type M Nissan GTR lol, but now saving for a Ferrari Enzo or something like that.
GT5 is so much better with a decent wheel and pedals, takes it to a whole other level. Now if I could only complete the bloody Top Gear Test track intermediate challenge in the Lotus Elise!! That is ridiculously hard, like you are driving on ice or something. Anyone got any tips??
Cheers!

I got that wheel too, a wheel should be considered essential. I tried the drift session with the lotus, was impossible, or I just suck at drift. I haven't done a normal driving event in the lotus yet.
Also did some dirt tracks in arcade mod, fantastic fun, sun sets, head lights come on. Cool.

Yeah def a huge step up from the controller. I have gone back to some of the earlier events and races I missed the Gold with to see if I can do it with the wheel. The karts were waay easier with a wheel than controller.
Yeah the dirt tracks are fun too. GT mode is def the way to go tho. Cool levelling up and getting better cars and tuning them. Have you tried online yet? I had fun doing a shuffle race where you randomly got a race car of similar type to compete with against other online players. Just have to watch those dirty drivers now who get up the inside of corners and bump u off lol!
