Drink holder clip drops into vent

I did something stupid today. I was trying to install one of those generic vent clip-on drink holders to my Polo GTi. I forgot to close off the vent whilst trying to install it onto the vent fins. One half of one clip fell through and cannot be seen anymore.

I took it for a drive with aircon switched-on and luckily no rattly sounds.

Question -Can it cause any damage in there?

From what I can see it would mean dismantling a lot of stuff to try to find it. Not sure if it is worth doing it unless there is a risk of it hitting something (ie. fan). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
