  • Alittle Puerto Rican action!

    20vt powered.

Note: twin cam gear setup. Not just a standard single exhaust cam gear.
    Has run 8's!

    Bit more Puerto Rican action.

Have the fastest VW's & Rotarys going around. (well I think the PAC Performance crew just recently took the crown for fastest Rotary in the world both in ET 6.75 & just just a couple of weeks ago the MPH too of 209.98mph.)

These blokes seem to run 8v's & crap all over just about anything else going around!
Also one of the fastest non Pro FWD going around!

    Time slip says it all!

Basically quick & easy total control of adjusting cam timing.

Whereas with a normal setup, you can only adjust the main "single pulley" which also adjusts both the exhaust & inlet cams.

I think there is a mob in the States who are working on producing a kit for the 20vt to, which will open up the playing field for the tuners & big HP players

          • I see, so on 8v one cam gear does both cams, now you get the luxury of independent timing setups. nice!

            • Nice work there Tim. If you're into turbos, that's definitely some inspiration... If you're into turbos.

Colin Gyenes is a nice guy and very switched on. I spoke to him over the phone at some length when i began the 16v build. Very helpful.. Talks... very... slow.. though. Haha.

Get rid of the chain drive and make it easier to change the lobe centres between the cams and therefore the overlap.

              • Too much overlap and you blow straght through the chamber?
                Chain drive is bad?

Well, once you reach a certain point, to keep it simple, yes. But it is vastly more complicated than that. The main thing is that you can adjust one cam at a time rather than having to move them both together or move them one whole tooth. So it's easier to adjust, more adjustable and the adjustment increments are infinitely finer. Win-win.

I don't believe the chain drives are a problem.. I don't have much experience with the drive chains in the 16v's but i've never heard anyone speak ill of them..

Nothing wrong with constructive questions. You don't know if you don't ask.

Check this out! This is NOT stainless steel...

Your right about not being accurate! haha.

Thre is no way in hell that would run a 6 sec 1/4 mile. No way!

I'm not doubting the "alleged" power, but just for interest sake. Its a far cry from this setup which has roughly the same "alleged" power, but is a properly setup full chassis'd car with a proper race trans, massive rubber & all the right gear to run as fast as this

Thanks for the laugh though. Needed it! hahaha
