Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Which hatch would you pick?

Well, with the rapid growing advances in hot hatches, it becomes a bit difficult to decide which is best! In a hypothetical situation, which small 4 banger turbocharged pocket rocket would YOU go for? And why...?

I realise these aren't ALL of the forced induction hatches, so if you'd prefer another one that fits around the same price bracket as these, please select Other and specify which one you'd like!

edit: hell, i was going to just leave it to 4 cyl turbos, but lets have it, which new hot hatch would you pick, any engine, just around the price range of the rest!

    Other.

    VW TIGUAN!

Alternatively, a Golf GTD with a DPF delete and agressive tune.

Whilst I've ordered a Golf R, I'd probably pick a Focus RS500 if I didn't need it as a daily, also they're 5cyl not 4 :p But it is a damn fine sounding motor! Before I decided on the R I played with the idea of a MPS 3 and throwing some money it at and making it wilder than it is, but the interior quality let it down, so for me the R ticked all the boxes in relation to a "hot hatch" and doubling up as a daily

Also whilst I don't mind the Tig, quick SUV's to me are not hot hatches, more like a hot wagon!

RS500 - 345HP Standard RS - 300HP. Sadly only 500 made as an end of production special and definitely not for Australia

The sound has to speak for itself
I'd imagine parts would be a little easier/cheaper because its a Ford?

                        I agree with you.
If you dig a hole and it is in the wrong place, digging it deeper isn't going to help.

I went for the STI, good bang for your buck performance wise but that's where it stops.
