  • WTF is going on with Sydney?

I had to share this story my mum told me this morning that made my blood boil.

Early this week, my dad was driving my car with both my mother and my sister, it was Monday afternoon along milperra road in the bankstown area.

So the story goes, some fking idiotic p-plater had the intention of using the inside lane to cut infront of my dad, my dad being the way he is, saw what he was doing and closed the gap so he couldnt get through. In doing so, the young prick decides to go around, over take my dad, cut him off and breaks infront of him at the next set of traffic lights as it goes red. The light then turns green, but being the little ***** he was, the p-plater decides to stay put, blocking my parents for a good minute, so my dad decides to go around him. Soon after the p-plater decides to tailgate him and then at the next set of lights overtakes him again and repeats what he did earlier. With my dad's blood starting to boil, my mum attempts to keep him calm as the little twat tries to provoke my dad and even sticks out his mobile number that i found weird. My dad sick of it, attempts to get away with the p-plater trailing him, and with luck the fkwit was boxed in by truck...

My parents are in their 60s, devoted Catholics and keep to themselves. After hearing this story, it begs the question, WTF is going on with p-plater on Sydney's roads?!

I'm now considering getting a steering wheel lock and leaving it in the car just incase it happens again.

Your not alone mate this has happened to me before. Driving along the m4 one night when this loser in his 84 corolla screams passed zipping in and out of traffic. Well lets just say that after he passed directly infront of me he lost control and cut back to the left where he hit a car in the far left lane.

In doing this he hit a 4wd with a lady driving it not once but twice the same car. Pure and utter fluckwit! After doing this we stopped and basically so did about another 10 cars, the wanker got his fare share of cussings from everybody.
I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

We can all relate there. I actually do carry a steering wheel lock in my car. I don't have a key for it. And I don't think a mkV GTI needs more security, but I still have one sitting in the back...

Sydney has nothing to do with it. There are douchebags everywhere.

Carrying a steering lock for the purpose of threatening/injuring/doing damage makes you as bad as the idiots who do stupid things in their cars. Take down their plate details and call the cops.
          Nothing to see here...

If other road users are going aggressive, you can either:

            - let them get on with it and chillax
            - beat them at their own game. Be warned though: Be prepared for the situation to escalate -- and rather than carrying a steering wheel lock which is not at all subtle and not legally defensible, call 000 and/or drive to the nearest police station if they want to get physical. No-one is going to assault you.

Meanwhile your parents are naïve if they close the gap rather than let someone in, and then not expect the other driver to be a little miffed.

The whole point here is that you can't let it escalate, they're really just trying to see how far they can push it, some people obviously have much less value for their own lives than most. And the amount of times I have gotten out of a car after someone has abused me, only to see them speed off faster than they have ever driven before is ridiculous. They'll only push it as far as they are in a car and out your reach, not that I'm encouraging violence in any way but that's just how these people work.

But also keep in mind that no police report is anonymous, and you will have to report your name and other critical information, which is something I have never felt comfortable about.

I say keep a cool head and don't let it get to you, and just remember that people that behave like that usually either have an already miserable and unhappy life, or are on the road to it already.

totally agree, he should have seen the moron and decided not to play on his terms well before he did that.

jees, could i give you some stories then.

I live in the city and do my fair share of driving, it never ends.

And you are definitely right about the P Platers, usually some "Bro" lil punkass trying to be 'Cool'.

3 Days ago in Sydney's West i had a p plater who merged in front of me to which i gave way (normally i wont, lets be honest haha). after he did about couple hundred metres later he slammed the brakes on me and threw his arm up??!$# wtf! .. To tired to car as it was late i was like 'yeah whatever' .. turned into two lanes, indicated and moved over and he swerved at me completely into my lane?! .... Unfortunately from there information is classified as seems that a S3 is slightly quicker then a Mazda 3 and you should be careful to whom you annoy for no apparent reason on our roads. (No road rage just suave moves!).

We live in a country with no road education, bad & dangerous roads with poor sign-age and too many over eager f**ktards these days unfortunately!

Im sure any of you who have travelled Europe can see the difference between our drivers and theirs.

Let alone even Asian countries are better then us!
                        What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

Drive in Asia and driving in the worst traffic in Sydney will never bother you again.

Also, getting stressed inhibits muscle growth. More muscle on the body, means faster metabolism. Less muscle, more fat.

Anyway, there's worse things happening in the world than people zig zagging on the road.

agreed there needs to be better road education in Australia.

I think some of it has to do wit the car you drive though, my mate was always getting people trying to race him in his mini cooper S and now has a BMW 1 series coupe its even worse (he actually says a LOT of R32's try to race him)

weird never had a R32 try and race my 93 clipper convertible

wouldn't actually be a race though - its slow as BRO!
Current ride - MKVI GTI, Candy White, 4 door, Detroits, DSG, BT
Previous VW - MK 1 Golf Clipper Convertible - 1993 - gone and now called Linda
Previous VW - MK 1 Golf GTI 1983, Lhasa Green, Perrielli P's, euro front look, gone but not forgotten

Hmmm... Why do R32's never try to race me? I've been waiting a long time for that day...
