Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Thanks to the f#*@wit that smashed my mirror

I don't know, but if anything goes wrong, i'm sure they have an app for it.

This just opens up a whole new market for insurance apps now lol.

If it's not an Android app, I'm not interested.

          mac>pc.

mac's were so effing crap. they were overpriced, hyped up ooh-look-at-that-pretentious-wanker-with-his-poser-mac-laptop pieces of plop.

then, something interesting happened..... i shut up, and bought a macbook pro.

now, i understand why mac users, stay mac users........

but yeah..... you cant expect decency these days- can you imagine what it's going to be like in 10 years time, when i-gen (you know, the teens thesedays who seem to see no moral dilemma in getting together with 10 of their mates to bash old women in the street, to set on fire and then urinate on mentally challenged little girls.... the proud australians of tomorrow) is out on the roads in full force with kids and loads of shopping and all that? expect to see more shopping trolleys in the side of your dub sometime soon.......

So I have taken my car to a smash repair shop and got a quote of 460 to fix the mirror. Compared to over 600 just for the parts from VW, it seems a pretty fair deal. And yes they use genuine parts and I also know that this useless VW dealer (cough cough Austral) use this repairer to do their work. I'm not one to promote, but I've used these guys 3 times now, and they always do a brilliant job and have come in cheaper than AAMI recommended repairers. Considering there are always audi R8s and porsches sitting in the yard, I'm confident they know what they're doing. So once again thank you Shipstone at Windsor.

And I don't know how we got onto Macs, but I own a Mac and they ****e all over PC's. I'm also about to get a new smart phone, but won't be touching the iphone with a 10 foot pole. It'll be a Samsung Galaxy S on Android for me thanks...

i watched my smash repair guy just yoink the inside panel off, detach the wiring, and yoink the mirror off from the outside.

took all of 2 mins or something. same to replace. fits just like stock, all electrics working fine.

Yeah exactly, I basically had to remove the whole thing to change my indicator lense. It's a bitch of a job, but it's doable.

i think it very much sums up contemporary australian society in a very generic, on-the-surface sense.... no respect.

obviously not to say that all, or even most, aussies are bad, but how many times a week do we need to see **** like this (be it here, or talking to someone who knows someone who got unjustly treated in some way) before we can acknowledge that hey, maybe people dont have respect for each other here, like they do in other places...
