Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.     THE STIG is.........

    Ben Collins..... supposedly
    he raced in V8's last year for jack daniels in endurance races,
    and formula 3, a whole lot of GT, LMP cars etc.

            Apparently, the Aussie Stig is done by both Neil and Rick Bates... A mate of mine saw them in the white racing suits when they were were filming the Aussie Top Gear last year...

              First I've heard that Neil Bates was an Aussie Stig. Rick Bates was an easy pick. There is a third Aussie Stig, though.

                  yeah he has been. they can't keep the stig when everyone knows who he is. he's not suppose to be anyone, he's a thing!
                  in Drive they said that steve pizatti (in the crappy aussie version of top gear) was thinking bout it. he wouldn't even be in the top 100.

                      Been watching re-runs of Top Gear on Austar/Foxtel
                      A while back, the Stig was shown doing a high dive from top of aircraft carrier
                      A later show paid tribute to some of his prowess.
                      Am I being cynical, eg, method used by BBC to say goodby? Or was it a case
                      of a stunt too far?

                        It was just a way of farewelling the old, black, Stig who had outed himself as Perry McCarthy, F1 driver (just).

                            Yes they did but we all know it was more of a joke and mostly because of the Ferrari FXX which Ferrari would only allow certain people to drive.
