Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • My New Toy

I was in singapore last week, walking along, minding my own business, when this little asian lady caught me unawares, mugged me and dragged me into her shop. then another lady came out and held me down whilst a 3rd was custom fitting the strap to my wrist. and at the same time, a 4th lady rifled through my wallet and raped my credit card.

fortunately the damage was only around A$2700.

Holidaymakers beware, these packs of ladies wandering around singapore shopping areas are dangerous!!

(oh, and I was so embarrassed by the whole experience that I chose not to mention it to customs on the way back to Oz and thereby was saved the further embarrassment of paying the extra $700 the oz govt would have wanted)

It is a nice watch but very expensive.

To be honest, i don't even use my watch any more.
Almost everyone i know only wears it as a fashion accessory now and uses thier phone to tell the time.

Guess you can't use your phone if you are snorkelling/scuba'ing though.

I agree, its 99% fashion, definitely wont be needing its 1,000m waterproof rating.

i ummed about buying a replica for $300, but couldnt live with myself, plus the replicas cant even be worn in the shower!

Ive loved this style of watch for many years, but could never justify the price. Unfortuntely, my very large tax return hit my account 2 days before I departed Perth and weakened my resistance to spend

Haha, i know what you mean.
I got my tax return and immediately blew it on a trip to Japan for next year.

It does look pretty ace though, very sporty like the S3.

Hoping to get the Chief Financial Officer to try the snow out.
Going to the Snow and Ice festival in Sapporo in early February and then snowboarding at Zao in Yamagata.
After that just touring around most of Japan.
Got 20 days off work and jetstar had 50% off so we booked it on a whim and i had my tax return that day.

It's evil giving money back to you in a lump sum like that.

Did Clarkson say that Audi drivers wore Breitlings? At least he was wrong about 1 thing.

So you signed a declaration (a legal document) that you didn't have goods bought out of the country worth more than $900 (or whatever it is), thereby also committing tax evasion and then come onto a public internet site and admit to it (almost gloat about it in fact) and don't expect to be caught? The Tax office know where you live, the sort of car you drive and most likely your name (with some detail matching in the quite extensive systems) all by the information on this website. Smart.

Anyway, it's a nice watch. I spent a lot on a watch in Switzerland last year (can't really go to Switzerland without buying a Swiss watch) and I've worn it every day since. It's AWESOME!!! And you know what, when you declare it, and you're wearing it, the worst that happens is a bad joke from a Customs Officer about how his watch sucks and could he have yours and then him marking down the value as less than the threshold because it's now "used" so it's not longer worth what you paid for it. So for the not taking the option of no problem whatsoever, I really hope the ATO don't catch up with you about it.

Not any decent sort of car. It's really not a huge amount of money to spend on a good watch.
