Ford Focus RS confirmed for Australia $59,000

Good on Ford for bringing it in. It's a Euro made Ford but Ford nonetheless. Locally, it'll carry the stigma of quality build issues like all Fords even though it's Euro made. They should badge it as an FPV or something else to distance it from a run-of-the-mill Ford IMHO.

Locally the STi hatch would be more of it's natural competitor I would think, but the exclusivity of the Focus might make it more attractive.

I hope it succeeds. If so, we might see Subaru decide to bring in Japan only models like the WRX STI Spec-C and VW bring in the Scirocco.

I really like the look of it, especially in green!!!

I dont have the cash, but if I did I would be giving serious consideration to one of these. Always kinda fancied the chav-tastic Focus RS that are already around, its no dub but it looks like mighty fun.

Sinclair Ford (Penrith/Kingswood area?) had a full page ad in the SMH Drive classified section yesterday and most of the page was a pic of the RS and the claim that Sinclair had three in stock.

I think they are a bit overrated, 70k for a ford is too much but 59k would be alright as it sounds pretty fun with that engine note and street cred..
