  • Road Trip to Wolfsburg - Best place to hire a sports car?

    Hey all,

I'm heading to Europe tomorrow, first stop is Berlin (staying in Kreuzberg) for a week and I am planning to take a day trip to Wolfsburg.

I could probably take the train out there, but that kind of goes against the spirit of the place!

Anyway, I'm looking to hire a car, preferably something with a bit of balls.

Does anyone have any experience with hiring sports cars in Germany? Any leads on good places to hire?

    Cheers

    Simon

EDIT: I should add, that by "something with a bit balls" I mean something above standard rental - unfortunately I have a budget

So far best I can find is this ERENTO

911 S for €199Euro is looking pretty good value...
    283kW
    0-60 in 4.9secs
    Top speed of 302 km/h

    Coupe or Cabriolet? Hmm...

Ouch.. just got an email back.

"For the requested time we can offer you a Porsche 911 or a Porsche Panamera for 199,00 € per day with 200 free kilometres.

Every additional kilometre would be charged with 1,00 €.

The deductable with these cars would be 1500,00 € in case of damage and/or theft...except you have other insurance-conditions combined with your credit-cards. "
Round trip from Berlin to Wolfsburg is about 500km

        The search continues.

I had no problems getting my jollies in an S40 diesel volvo last time I was there. I had a MKIII Golf 1.6 before that (which made me want to buy a VW - it took a while but i got there evenually).

Unfamiliar roads, driving on the right, hire car, big excess - how hard do you drive with all that against you? (OK, we sat on 190kmh for many kilometres when going to Switzerland & was following the rellos doing 160kmh in a bucketing down rainstorm - all good fun).

We hired a Seat Leon TDI.

Was great, went hard and used at the Ring.

We drove it for 2 weeks and didnt have any problems.

              All the best.
