  • Anyone buy evo Magazine?

    If you do well done, excellent magazine, well written with great photographs.
    If you don't this month's issue is worth a look;

    Volkswagen Golf R meets Rallye
    The new Golf R is a tech tour-de-force, but it's also quite nostalgic too, as Henry Catchpole finds out via a rare Rallye Golf

    It's an article where they test a new Golf R against a MK2 Rallye 16v G60. Also an article showing some cool cars from VW's private stash. Plus some boring old supercars

    Well worth a look.

    Evo is the best drivers magazine out there. They don't really talk 0-60, peak power or grip levels. It's all about exploring the limit, sensations etc. They rate 205GTI's as high as F40's.

      Thats something that is sadly lost on a lot of enthusiasts these days. Its more about fancy gizmos and performance figures than sending a shiver up your spine!

            Golf Rallye was 8v (box wheel arches and square head lamps)

            The Golf G60 Limited was the 16v one

              The car featured is from the Wolfsburg private collection and is fitted with a 16v G60 putting out 206bhp.

                    Exactly, they could have just put it up against a MK5 R32 or a normal 8v Rallye but they put the effort in and used a unique and more closely matched example of a classic, hence the thread.

                          they did put the r32 mk4 up against the G60 limited (the G60 limit was the most powerful production vw till the r32 came out)

                            I recommend that anyone that has not checked it out, look at evo's web site. It has some great videos too!

                              Awesome, i'll have to have a look at that, i love Rallyes! Pretty sure that there isn't one in Australia? One day i'll get one over here somehow! The private stash sounds interesting, i've heard a few stories about some cool one-offs hiding in the basement of the Karmann factory too, i know there is a 16V G60 Corrado there, and i'm not talking about one of the hideous body-kitted Yellow ones, they were both written off.
