Might be a bit different for Pete as he goes to the track but for me it was amazing not having to worry about the speed limit and pushing the car to it's potential.
I really hope they put one or 2 or these on each year.
It's great advertising for them to show off their new models and it's great for us to flog some cars around and try out all the cool tech (DSG/ACC/XDL etc)

We had the older guy and he only pushed it 6-7/10 rather than 10/10.
Also push those MK6 GTI's to the limit on the track.
They can handle a beating and the XDL does well to keep traction.
There was a lot of people who commented that the Tiguan slalom test was surprising as they thought it was going to be rolly and it was quite well grounded.

Compared to the CC and the Jetta, the Tiguan felt like it was on stilts, but it was impressive for an SUV nonetheless.--------------------------

Had an awesome time today, i was in the blue group which started on the track first. The GTD was fun, but nothing compared to the GTI! It worked well for me as i had a go in the GTD first which got me familiar with the track so i could be a bit more comfortable in giving it some more in the GTI.
team_v, got the young guy for the R hot lap, but we got held up by the older driver a bit. Still bl00dy impressive hitting 200km/h just before turn 1! And yes, i got the Tiguan for the slalom (we only got a shot at one of the cars, seems they were running behind schedule), and i was pleasantly suprised.
Interesting note...Greg, the guy at the introduction, mentioned that it will prob be a paid event for next year...shame that. If you do have to pay for it, it prob needs to make the groups smaller to get more time behind the wheel of the various cars.
Loved it all the same. Bonus showbag at the end!

I noticed on the survey at the end it asked "would you pay for an experience like this one?" or something to that effect.
I have to say though it was fun to get out on the track and see what the cars can do. (or what I cant do)
Personally I think I was more impressed with the GTD. For a diesel that car was awesome. Quieter on the road than my old mk5 GTI as well. Just not quite enough poke but that could be easily fixed.
The tricky diff was certainly noticeable in my opinion. Makes a substantial difference compared to the MK5 as well. Would be great if VW could continue the support for the enthusiast crowd and keep up events like this. Although i can see it getting expensive if people keep on crashing the carsLast edited by Tim; 31-08-2010, 08:40 PM.

I was impressed with the lack of noise so to speak of the GTD and it would be a nice daily driver.
Tim, what did you think of the R?
Yeah i hope this event continues and remains free.

Not only was the GTD quiet as far as road noise goes but it also had a pretty nice induction noise! It was quite a charismatic car. I just found it running out of puff a bit on the straight though.
the R was pretty awesome. Although I think it was the driver we were with. Lucas was stirring him up saying he was slow and he started pushing the car pretty hard!
And yeah we were in the 12:30 session. Not sure who it was but someone crashed one of the cars at turn 1!

If it's a paid event, the group needs to be smaller and session longer.
