Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey guys.

Well as some of you guys know, I have taken it apon myself to take 9 weeks off work and do an around the world tour.

As part of the fist phase of my tour, I have been traveling though and sight seeing in Washington DC, New York City, and Boston...All three cities were amazing, and it has been and awesome experiance.

On thursday morning I arrived at Logan Airport in Boston to fly to Atlanta and meet up with Jeff Lewis and drive up to Greenville in South Carolina to meet up with the Syndicate guys. After checking in, I proceeded to the departure gate only to find that my flight to Atlanta via Chicago had be cancelled due to bad weather...My heart dropped... I was not rebooked on a flight till the next day... So I grabbed my gear and waited in the rebooking line for 2 hours with the rest of my flight, then presented an awesome sob story to check in clerk... Hooray, I was then booked on to a Delta flight direct to Atlanta, and I was only going to be 2hrs later than I normally would have been!!

I arrive at Atlanta to be picked up by Jeff (one of Jay and Kristi's buddys on his way from Savannah... Sweet ride too!!) and we head north to Greenville to meet up with the Syndicate boys and girls. First we stop at Protech, the local Porsche, Audi, and VW garage for a meetup and a few beers, and I proceed to meet up with the first of an awesome bunch of people that I will see over the weekend. Departing to Halk's place, we play cars, and get some shut eye.

The friday morning we meet up with the majority of the Syndicate guys heading to SOWO, have lunch, and have an awesome drive down to Helen, Georgia, about 70 miles away.
On arriving, we check into the motel, and started having fun!! The eye candy that was driving around was awesome!!

Saturday morning we dragged ourselves out of bed early to get a good spot and get the camp set up. from the outset it was clear that there would be alot of cars to look at, and nearly all of the cars were amazing!! There was a vide variety of VW's, Audi's, a couple of Porsches (One of them was Syndicate Bill's race preped 911 3.0L "Red Brick"), and a Saleen Mustang with a B4 Audi grill zip tied to the grill!!

Saturday night meant more partying, and sunday came way too soon!! I rode back from Helen to Greenville in Bill's 911, which was great!!
I am currently staying in Greenville before flying from Atlanta to Toronto tomorrow. The Syndicate guys here have bent over backwards to make me feel like one of the family, putting me up, and driving me around. I have never felt more at home in a foreign country. I have to say a big shout out to Jeff Lewis, Bill, Bean and She Bean, Halk, Hanna, Handsome Steve, and all of the Syndicate guys that had a laugh at my funny accent over the weekend and mad me feel right at home!!

I have limited internet access as it is at the moment, so I can only upload a few pictures at this stage, but I will be making a video of the pictures and rolling videos I have taken over the weekend.

Oh, and I got the prize for the furtherst traveled person at the show...

    Jeffs Mk4 Jetta GLI

    Halks Mk4 GTI 1.8T AWD

    Bill's 911 "Red Brick"

    Camo Supercharged VR6 Mk3 Cabby.

Ok, so I'm back in the land of Oz... And I really don't want to be here... I had a ****ing ball over seas and I believe the grass really is greener on the other side... Well it is in the USA or Ireland...But not in Tokyo, as that place is an expensive ****hole...

So after an epic journey that took in Washington DC, New York City, Boston, Greenville SC, Helen Georgia (SoWo), Toronto, London, Edinburgh, Stirling, Glasgow, Ireland, Copenhagen, Bastad, Helsingborg (Both in Sweden), Hamburg, Brussels, Frankfurt, and Tokyo, I got back to Townsville on Saturday...

One of the highlights of my trip (as well as many others...) was Southern Worthersee... After seeing the talent that went into most of these cars, and realising it isnt that big of a show (890 entered cars this year as compared to H20 that had over 3000 cars entered last year) made me relise that although Australia has a budding VW, it has a long way to go... The Syndicate guys that I hung out with were amazing. I have nothing but the best to say about them with how they made me feel welcome and the support they gave me while I was there... This is the main reason why I will be paying them another visit at the end of the year.
