  • Shipping options from UK

    Hey guys,

Looking at getting some wheels from the UK, however its probably off ebay and to get the sellers to ship to Australia i probably need a pick up service.

Can anyone recommend a company whether they have used it or not, and also if anyone has any ballpark estimates of the cost of 4 wheels with tyres.

    Thanks

    Kiel

I think the cheapest way is to get a spot in a shared container, will take 3 months to get here though ... assuming the container does not fall off the boat, which they have been known to do!!

just got quoted 200 pounds per package, package contains 2 wheels.

dad works for sadliers, will be interesting to see what kind of ball breaking freight charges they come back with.

I got a quote from ukbrandsworldwide.com - UK Specialists in Personal Shopping and Package Forwarding for wheels

Assuming the wheels are each packaged in a suitable cardboard box, and assuming each box weighs 13kgs, then you are looing at around £180 total, with delivery of around 7 days

          Send them an email.

make sure you ask for door-to-door quote otherwise you cop a lot of agency clearance fees at this end as well.

I'd suggest you get your tyres seperately from Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels they have fantastic rates on tyres and can deliver to your door for around US$150ish

(they also do a huge range of wheels!)

also, by ordering wheels and tyres from two different souces means you have a greater chance of staying under the $1000 Australian customs threshold so you arent exposed to duty and GST

            thanks heaps Gareth,

i was considering just sending you a PM but thought you may think im stalking your shipping posts.

180 pounds, i figured anything under 200 pounds would be reasonable.

Oh and that site is amazing.

Ive done a lot of window shopping for wheels so far, but still cant quite find what i'm looking for, and all the more tricky as the range of wheels i like in 5x100 is not brilliant.

glad i can help you spend your money if I cant spend mine

just make sure you get a door-to-door quote, which is important

Just ordered 4 wheels from the Tire Rack and shipping was only $261 US to my door and the wheels themselves were alot cheaper then the UK.

                Good luck!

you'll have to post some pics Vwindahouse.

I'm surprised at $260, other forum members here and at Ozaudi have ordered ex tirerack and quoted less. perhaps theres been a hike? fortunately the A$ has strengthened a bit recently

Last lot of wheels I bought over for a guy in Canberra who purchased a set of forged ATS cups from ebay.de, I charged him $100 for shipping from Caterham to Perth, then it cost $240 to get the damned things to Canberra...

Shipping is 6 - 8 weeks UK to Perth.
                    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

                    Cheers,
                    Grant...

Will do gareth! I'm really hoping they will arrive by the end of the week so I can get them on for the weekend and take some pics! Yeah shipping could have been a little better I guess but it works out to be $300 per rim with shipping inclusive which is $350 cheaper per rim than if I got them in OZ...... What a joke!

                          Warning!!

Just a quick warning. I just got slugged with $245 worth of duty and taxes as my order worked out to be $24 over the $1000AU cutoff after the exchange rate to AU from US was calculated. So pissed. Anyway I should have place two orders with 2 rims in each.
