Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I wonder how many members not just on here, but everywhere played up at one time or another when they were young tackers & showing off a bit!!!!!!

Christ! He done a burnout!(was probably a crap one too!) He didn't kill someone & the way it gets put across, he should be on "America's Hardest Prisons" as a hardened criminal!

i can see the argument for being able to get your issues sorted on the track, and thus behaving sensibly on the road, BUT!

he's male + he's only 25 + he's in an AMG + he knows he can drive = he's probably only ever a bee's **** away from pulling the trigger and having a play.

as for the burnout- dont those cars have like 315 wide rubber on the back?

I can understand the desire to have a bit of fun with your car, I'm 18, I'm always having fun in my car! However I make sure I stick to the limit on the roads & keep speeding to the track. Although for some reason I thought Hamilton was driving over the limit. Only just realised he was caught doing a burnout - he was probably just spinning the wheels a little. When has a burnout harmed anyone?

I'm not going to deny that I have done some stupid stuff in cars (If people say they have never done stupid stuff, then they are just lying to themselves). My old Excel got more air time then an X games skate boarder!!

The only reason this is in the news is because he is famous...I personally don't car what he did... Its like the who thing with Clarkey and his dog faced ex missus...Who cares!!

I think we can summarize this..

-Hamilton did something a bit silly considering where and when he has done it.

-The Australian road laws are a joke.

-Everybody likes to complain about the road rules.

-Some old people consider very mildly illegal acts in vehicles "hooning"

-Lara Bingle has a face like a smashed crab and a personality like a brick wall.

              -Nobody cares about Lara Bingle.

              Yeah yeah?

He's the reigning F1 World Champion. That's why it's such a big deal. He should be setting a better example. He races some of the fastest cars in the world, why did he feel the need to do a burnout on a public road? Formula 1 portrays itself an elite sport with the best drivers in the world. It's not for the bogan masses.

I can only imagine how ropable his team is, after he was caught doing it in a team car. Some angry Germans will be asking "Is this your vision of Mercedes?"

Jeremy Clarkson has proven that AMG Mercs are only really good for doing massive burnouts. If you owned one and didnt let one rip then you really dont deserve the car

It doesn't matter how famous or how good a driver he is. Doing a burnout on a busy city street is completely irresponsible and unnecessary. Wouldn't anyone expect to get a heafty fine and a few demerit points for that one?!

Its a company car...If you had an AMG Merc as a company car, you would light it up... As for doing a burnout in the city, take some of my advice, don't get caught...

What he did was a bit silly, hardly dangerous in most circumstances, and certainly not when it was Hamilton driving.

BUT - anyone on here would get pinned for it - why shouldn't he.

The law is poorly written, the cops were just doing their jobs, remember they are sworn to prevent illegal activity when they witness it, regradless of their own personal opinion.

A simple fix would be to have the anti hoon laws have a single focus - 'Dangerous Activity involving a Motorvehicle' of course it would then come down to the cops interpretation and that could vary pretty widely, which wouldn't really be fair either.

No simple fixes in this world.
                                Its here!
