Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Melbourne - Recommended Wheel Aligner

Time to get my bi-monthly wheel balance and alignment and wanted to know who people recommend in Melbourne. Without question it has to be a reasonably new, full 4 wheel laser aligner and somewhere that has attention to detail as I am extremely fussy when it comes to my wheel being centred - so much so that I can pick up the impact of sitting in the car! So when I can I get the alignment done while I'm sitting in the car.

Who do the Melbourne guys recommend?

Booked at TruTrack. Thanks for the recommendation. They do track cars and have a guaruntee the car won't leave without the alignment being perfect or the wheel being straight! $270 for four wheel blanace and alignment. You should never get one done without the other as one affects the other.

Now to book the service... Dealers are freaking out when I tell them Barloworld VW do a 15k service for $183.60! LOL South Yarra laughed at me and pretty much hung up.

Kynan is the guy who owns/operates the place. This guy is truly amazing. He has an "interesting" personality which can/has rubbed people the wrong way, but he knows his ****. I went through 4 different wheel alignment places before Kynan fixed the problem.

hey pixl, what was the problem?

im not too keen to spend $hundreds but i too am pretty picky about the alignment, and since i've bought the polo it seems to always feel off-center to the right (steering wheel) and pulling left slightly (at the best of times, it can be worse).

been to VW dealers, tyre plus near the airport, and bridgestone in dandy, but it's never really truly on the money.
