Guys READ replies. The movements are DELIBERAETLY not realistic. NOTHING can be as real as driving but the movements such simulators make are to give you the feeling relative to the seat you're in. The focal point is the screen when you're sitting in it so you're not looking around at your surroundings. To you the screen would be steady and the movement just makes you feel like you're in a car. It has to be that exagerated so it feels like you're moving.
It wouldn't make you sick and they do feel fairly good. They're not totally realistic obviously but the movement makes you feel like you're driving. Because your focal point (i.e. the screen) is moving in exactly relative to the position you're sitting in, the motion sickness potential is all but removed. Sure, it will still affect some people, but if you're focussed on the screen, you should be fine!
Until you've experienced something like this, it's hard to understand so I guess that's why there are so many people dismissing it as unrealistic. Looking at it from a 3rd person perspective, it sure does look wrong. But it's not. It's as real as it can feel without being in the real thing.
