  • I am devestated, think my beloved Jetta will be written off...

I am really upset,as worked so hard to be able to buy a new 2007 Jetta at the end of 2006,love it as it is/was immaculate, and is going like a dream.
    Has only done 53000 kilometers.

I work in the DFO Spencer street, which was hit with the massive hailstorm yestorday.
My cat looked allright last night, but today looked closely, and was shattered to see the roof, bonnet, boot, and every panel on the right hand side of my car has been damaged.

Will have to call the insurance company tomorrow...

Dreading having to deal with this.
It is insured with VW/Allianz,who I also just bought my extended warranty from...

Will keep you updated, wont sleep tonight.

Bad news. I feel sorry for you. Seems like your the second VWW member very badly effected by yesterday's freak storm. My car was lucky to be relatively unscathed. A neighbour's car (toyota) will most likely be written off, every panel is dented. The hail was horrific. I hope you get it sorted asap, and that insurance issues are not too painful

Sorry to hear about that mate. You would be surprised though how much of your damage will be repaired just by pulling the dents out. Also, Allianz are pretty reputable so any repair work should be of good quality, and from memory if they were to change a panel they will only use OEM parts.

            Hi Anthony,

That's bad news indeed, unbelievable that only last July you were sending a similar message to me in regards to my Jetta when it was written off. How badly dented is it? Paintless dent removal techniques these days have reduced hail damage costs substantially and as there is no paintwork involved is really undetectable.

VW/Allianz have new for old up to 3 years so they should replace it if it is a write off, something I wish I had with my Jetta when it was written off just before it was 3 years old!

I know how you feel though, much as I love my Eos, I do miss the Jetta, it was a lovely car.

Hope you get a good result.

            Cheers

man, i feel really bad for you.

i was in fitzroy and the hail started pissing down- set off my alarm and im very very lucky that there's no damage- im not religious anymore but i swear someone was watching over my polo- i dont have a car port nor a garage for it.

the worst part about the hail is that just a half hour before it hit, i was thinking that it might be too hot to take the dog for a nice long walk, so i'll just let it cool down abit.. bloody victoria weather.

the hail storm was absolutely gob-smacking- out of nowhere and merciless- the hail stones werent on the ''small'' side at all.

i hope things work out with insurance. keep your chin up mate.

George,my car had its 3rd birthday 4 months ago,so I wont get a new Jetta replacement...
                Bought the extended warranty then.
The timing is not right,as was going to change it next year for the all new Jetta.
Might pop into my local dealership to look at the latest Golfs and Jettas,as well as the competition.
Dont know what to do,had a sleepless night last night.
                I feel your pain.
Not sure if I want an Eos,might upgrade to a 2.0 TSI Jetta though .
Not sure about Skoda either ????

This was my 4th new VW,but first one in Australia.
                SUPERB car too.

                  I would go the Skoda.
The Eos has an air of hairdresser to it and costs way too much for what is essentially a convertible golf.

Shame that you got such a caining from the storm.

Is the lens from the bi-xenon's?

Sucks that you got caught out in it.
                      Was there any warning?

Yep. NS. It is cracked just above the washer jet from the bottom up. I washed the car last Sunday and it was not cracked then.

My Skoda vRS was tucked up in the garage. The girls were travelling between Chadstone and Melbourne on a shopping expedition. I knew there was a reason why I don't like shopping.

Oi! I'm no hairdresser thanks very much!

Horses for courses really, Jetta is a great car, I loved mine but if you want roof down capability, the Eos is far ahead of its competitors. Maybe a tad expensive but compared to its opposition I think it's on the money. Whilst it may be built on a Golf floorpan and share much in common, engineering and structure wise there is a great deal of difference, much of which you don't see until you drive one for a while. It certainly would be significantly dearer to produce than a Golf.

Anthony, for some reason I thought yours was yet to get to three years, guess time flies when you are having fun. Keep us posted on the outcome.

                          Cheers

You've basically got a Jetta convertible! Let me know if you wanna do a front end swap to seal the deal.
