Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. Anyone had experience of using TNT to get packages shipped internationally?

I've got a package in transit with them. Their online tracking shows it was "dispatched to country of destination" on the 19/02 and is still in transit. The tracking shows it hasn't moved in at least the last 10 days.

Does anyone know how to tell how they would have sent it?
I would have assumed they put it on a plane but it might have been literally "shipped" which would take weeks.

I have sent and received, and if it is not scanned regularly, you are on surface mail - sorry to advise.

You're probably right. Was hoping it wasn't the case.

How long would it take? I did a quick Google search and it looks like from 6-12 weeks......

Don't know where its at. Doesn't say on the tracking site. Just says:

            16.02.2010:
            Parcel has been pre-alerted
            16.02.2010:
Parcel picked up and in sorting process
            16.02.2010:
Parcel sorted for country of destination
            19.02.2010:
Parcel sent to country of destination

            no movement since

I wouldn't be that bothered but its a part that i need to get my car back on track. The company I bought from offered 2 forms of postage economy or express. Express was $100 more expensive, so obviously chose economy, but they didn't specify that it would take up to 3 months in shipping.....

Man that sucks, i like how ups and fedex actually tell u where abouts in location ur parcel is at and also have an estimated delivery date. I suppose the only thing u can do is ring em up with ur tracking number.

I dont think its at customs coz these companies have arrangements that allow them to deliver on time.

It sure sounds like it's on a boat, and won't scan again till it arrives. 10 weeks plus is my experience there.

We waited 8 months for our Hemi block. The useless bastards lost it and found it and "Oh wait it hasn't been shipped yet" etc. What a PITA.

Having said that i've waited 2 weeks for a cam gear via USPS air mail before. You may be lucky.

I had a package to come to Burwood NSW, arrive in Burwood VIC this afternoon. How hard is it to read the address on a box?

Well, the package arrived in the country & cleared customs yesterday.......

It was on either the worlds fastest boat or the worlds slowest plane.

I had a shi#e time getting my postage from the UK.

                              Let me guess, Awesome GTI?

Nice AP's, I have a set on my Polo GTI, think it may have been the 1st set in the country...

My postage took over 2 months as the first shipment came in looking like this:

One of the rear shocks was poorly packaged and had poked through the side of the box during transit, Was bent.

They shipped another one for free (Assume AP's forked out as it was a packing issue) but again, waiting for TNT took forever.

The problem is that after the package leaves Norway (UK via Norway, both times...) its no longer express and its just surface mail. No tracking, no priority and no care.

Once it all went in, I was happy, but the wait was disastrous...

I'll look out for what you think when they go on.

                              Good luck.
