Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Just wondering who everyone uses on here for personal couriers (interstate)?

Just been looking online and a lot of the mainstream ones require you to be a business and/or have an account with them. Something easy with a Paypal option and door to door pickup and delivery would be great.

    Cheers in advance,

make friends with a small business that has an Australian Air Express account. Cheapest door to door service by far for bulky items. Thats if theyre on a decent rate that is.

I used Couriers Please and they didn't require any accounts. I just rocked up and sent away.

I would of said that too BUT I found out they're franchised so use different couriers hence have different rates. My local one sent a 24KG large box from Adelaide to Perth with TNT on tuesday delivered thursday for $70. That's value imo!

However if it isn't valuable I'll use smart send as they are great when you want something collected too

If it's somethiing that requires special packaging, Pack and Send are good - they will also provide insurance. That being said - I have both TNT and Pack and Send accounts, and the P&S fees are variable. 4 boxes to Darwin the other day - they didn't need to repackage or do any other work, was $150 - even after I questioned the original charge of $200. TNT quote was $77. Be aware of what you are asking them to do, and get a quote.

Just a +1 for Smartsend. Great pricing and online quote system, only annoyed by their pick-up times (12-4 or 1-5, wtf?).
                  Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
                  Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

Couriers generally deliver in the morning & collect in the arvo. Rod I use Pack and send norwood btw.

Just odd that their 4 hour gaps overlap and only a difference of 1 hour. I specified a 12-4 time once and the guy came a little after 5 anyway.
