Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW: Removalist

After some recommendations for a removalist in Sydney.

Someone reliable but with good rates. We dont have much, just enough for a 2 bedroom unit.

    Thanks in advance.

a 2br unit should fit in a 3t truck you can hire for less than $200 for the day (plus fuel). Plus you can do it yourself and I don't care who you are, you always take more care with your on stuff than someone else does.

    Just a thought.

Mates? For a beer and sausage my pals would do almost anything, especially if it involved getting out of work. Worst case scenario you couldn't do most big stuff on a weekend?

We moved 8 times in 7 years - got bloody good at it. In my wagon I could move almost everything except lounge, beds, dining table, and fridge - which was 1 or 2 van loads one afternoon with the help of a family member with a van. All the boxes, chairs chests, laundry appliances, etc fit and I could lift alone. This worked becasue we moved not far, but if you were moving across the city many small deliveries is not as practical as renting a truck. My wife was pregnant once and we had a 3 month old the last time I moved (5 years ago thank fark!).

To answer your question my tip would be to source a mob who does interstate or international deliveries as opposed to across town removal work. These guys must pack with more care due to the nature of their work. It might be a bit more, but you get what you pay for.

For a beer and a sausage? Sounds a bit gay to me! LOL

Mates are not the issue, most of them work 9-5 and i'm moving on a Monday, In any case they are coming over the weekend to assist.

I have spoken to a few people, so close to a breathrough. Anyway thanks for the tips, mods thread can be locked.

We have moved a few times using 2 guys and a van out of the local area publication (Cumberland or similar).

Cost us <300 both times, they are not the most careful, but where you don't want to spend much, they do the job.
