RIP Chris, I met him when he came to look at my Mk1 for sale and also met his parents, both lovely people and its very heart wrenching to imagine what they are going through.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Oh No!!!! I just got his VR running for him!!!!!!!!!! spent a bit of time with him that night talking him through the fault finding process and he was a keen, very likeable person that was going to shape up into a good tech , im deeply shocked and saddened by this news
Speeding or not its terrible news, i have done silly things too and i think that some of the comments on here have been written by people who also have at some point and you will be kidding yourself if you havent , so spare a thought for our good friend and his family please,
RIP Chris
Deepest sympathy to his family and friends,

HOLY F**K! When I heard the news I was cut up.
I met chris a couple of times (and ALWAYS saw him rolling around the GC) and his passion of dubs always amazed me. He was so stoked to get a job at Gold Coast VW and even more stoked when he got his "I (heart) VAG" tattoo. He will be deeply missed amongst the dub community. Hopefully his mk3 will still be seen around the roads and maybe somehow attend some meets/events in the future.
RIP big guy, my condolences go out to his family and closest friends.

I sat with him for over an hour chatting at the meet with him about VWs and anything else, this is a true shock for me, he was a cool guy, clever wit, chilled out and far too young to say good bye like this. Rest in peace buddy, I know you will live on through your family and good friends.
I kinda wish I hadn't opened this thread, but thanks Maca for telling us. I hope his family and friends can be a good support for eachother, and that noone else was seriously hurt in this. I wish I could offer more... but thanks for the chat mate and sorry we didn't tell you that the bowls club did wedges as well as chips.
Well said Jimmy, I'm chilled on the roads most of the time but would never humour myself to think that something I'd done couldn't have gone another way.
Greasykitchen he was about 19 years young. Wtf.

That is sad, I have spoken with him and he seemed a nice guy and was shaping up as a tech by all accounts.

An aside from my last post.
Guys PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't read that boost thread, I almost signed up just to give a serve, it made my blood boil with some of the ignorance and assumptions. Hope some of those twits wise up and learn some respect,
so sorry to detract from this thread honouring a great young guy.

This is the most shocking thing I've heard in a long time. I was chatting with Chris about his car just the other week at the Christmas party, now this.
Can't believe it, poor guy, poor family! My thoughts are with them.
The moment when he lost control of the car would've been the scariest thing, I know it was when I crashed my mk2.
RIP Chris.
