Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Sydney super-temperatures

I'm really surprised there isn't a thread on the temps in Sydney yesterday. I would have posted something yesterday, but unfortunately the temperature alarm went off on my PC so I decided to shut it down for its own protection. I really wish I had air-con in my place so that didn't happen.

Anyway, I ended up taking a drive coz my place was so hot. Figured the Tiguan had aircon so would be a lot more pleasant. Driving around, the hotest place I went through was near Rhodes shopping centre:

Was pleased to see the cooling system took the heat in its stride.

Did anyone else notice any higher temps?

I had 45.5 at about Westmead on the M4 Friday before the thunderstorm in the afternoon.

On the GTI academy day it was 41 at the same point about 1pm.

The Outback my wife drives was having issues with the heat in Merrylands West yesterday afternoon - severe ignition retardation due to the heat...

I seriously surprised as to how the Jetta was handling the heat, though I could hear the fan working overtime once i had turned the car off.

I also surprised to the tempreture bouncing between 89 and 91 degress on a 43 degree day. A friend of mine that works at VW was telling me running the AC actually helps the car.

Just a thought too: how benficial would it be to reconnect the AC and divert the cool air to the intake?

unfortunately, that's the case. it was 47 degrees in the shade on one of the aussie open tennis days last year...

not too clued up on the causes for this devastating heat but if melbourne/ sydney are going to have 60 degree summers in 5 yrs time im migrating elsewhere......

What a change for today though. It's cool outside right now (thought sky is covered in clouds).

damn straight. hey, if he can fix the weather for the australian government, i'd be more than happy to pay a few bucks extra in taxes each year as part of a repayment plan from the australian population to al gore.

or michael moore. or the dude who did supersize me.

I prefer to work under the notion that us driving cars and burning coal will have no effect on the planets temperature and no matter how much jargon Al Gore spews out will change the fact the temps rises and falls in cycles and always has, it will make him incredibly rich though

So i would prefer not to have to pay him
