  • Windscreen Replacement

    Hi all,

Just curious of experiances with windscreen replacement. O'Briens? seem to be the way to go, but anyone got any alternatives or reasons why i shouldnt go with O'Briens?

    I'll +1 for O'Briens.

I had my windscreen replaced two wednesdays ago by a friendly bloke from O'Briens who showed me all the steps and was very thorough with his work. He was happy to chat too.

whilst I have nothing against Obriens, I found that Jim's windscreens were cheaper, than Obriens, and everyone else. the bloke I got asked the best quote I had gotten, and and then made it cheaper!

I'd pass his number along, but you're in syd.

Obriens done a good job on mine, he'd never seen or heard of a Corrado either, took his time and done a perfect job.

i too was happy with windscreens obrien.

yes, they were up to 80 bucks more than some of the other companies but they've done a fantastic job- no issues whatsoever, and with a lifetime warranty.

and besides, they were still something in the ball park of half price less than to go to VW to do it.

it was very much a case of set-and-forget

I got a couple quotes last night for my Audi, obriens were over $400, two other lesser know mobs were $250 and $225. I know I'm not made of money, so it's worth shopping around sometimes, esp if its coming out of your pocket?

Get the windscreen option on your comprehensive insurance. Only an extra $63 a year and you get to claim once a year for either windscreen, sunroof or side window glass. Worth it!

Yup! With Shannons it's complimentary for 1 claim per vehicle per year. VERY handy. Makes it nothing more than an inconvenience to get fixed.

Yeh the winscreen option is good cover especially if needed to replace the front windscreen with the rain sensor which could cost a lot.

Thanks to this thread, I was inspired to ring up my insurer yesterday for this tiny stonechip on my car's front windscreen that has been there for a while.

The whole process was painless and I went into O'Brien this morning only to be told that the damage is not severe enough to be repaired so I have now cancelled the insurance claim. Oh well... stonechip lives for another day
