Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

How amazing is that auction yard. Its just mind boggling how large and well organised everything is.

          Awesome vid

Did some research and the only VW available to be imported from Japan, assuming you dont own and drive it for 12months or its a pre 89 car, is a Corrado

According to the list, a Corrado from 1989-1996 can be purchased via auction and imported to Australia

Recent sales prices, exclusive of shipping, have been in the order of 160,000 to 350,000 Yen....divide by 80 and that looks pretty cheap

Not sure of shipping costs, Customs duties & expenses...it could be like 10K for a VR6/G60 Corrado

          something worth considering

Its nt possible to bring one over under SEVS because there is no garage (or RAWS) in Australia who have the right to make them compliant, its so annoying.

Awesome vid though guys, looking forward to part 2.

Japan is crazy, I love the place, been there twice and will be back for sure! As is said in the video they are technologically advanced in some respects, but once you go outside of the cities technology disapears and you wont even find an ATM or EFTPOS machine!

Cool cars everywhere, we even saw a maserati in the snow. Everything seems to come with a turbo option and htose vans are mad!

Somehow a rumour has started and then spread to all the forums that we bought a Griffith TVR 500?!? I don't even know what that is!

                          Whats the deal with them?

                            See here:

                            The 500 should be a 5L V8.

I love how people are expecting a forester or a liberty in the youtube comments yet have no understanding of the 15 year rule for imports.
