Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

not VW related, but here's my GTP.

I'm stunned at some of the prices quoted.

This one is a one-off cost of around $450 in WA

I have OWD11E on the Audi Wagon. Bought an audi with a days rego and the plates years ago and have been swopping them between cars ever since. It predates the system, so no fees for me

id have euro plates with N-UR-BRG. but **** paying $440 a year!!!
i've got initial plates on my forester that i had before the new system, so no fees there.

can't believe it's $440 a year here in NSW. for what? they press the plate once and then if you hold onto them for ur driving career which lets say might be as long as 60 years they get $26k for em.

it's amazing how much the state road authority's are now ripping people off,

I've owned all of the following cheap plates:

Vic VW-0066 on my 1st Bug in the '80's ..cost about $60 one-off payment.
Vic AH-1996 on my A' Healey, again for same sort of $ (1964 was gone, and '96 was the year it was re-born)
NSW X-BO4-T std. issue Euro plate on an Benz wagon.
NSW KGB-444 on my old Benz, which everyone called the 'staff car'...these replaced the orig. VIC B&W set which I sold for about $400 after the police kept hasling me to change to NSW rego...
NSW PUG-089 in red on my red 205 GTi Peugeot
and std Vic current set QQQ-555 now in old-skool Black and White...

none of them have ever been my initials, esp. when mine are MB, and I've owned 3 Benzes and not one transfer, re-issue or new set has cost me more than $100....and I refuse to pay any annual fees..'spose I've just been lucky !!

Ok then, If you had to choose between these 2 plates what would you go for in QLD with a MK4 R32. plate 1 = WVR32 or plate 2 = VVR32 ????

Yep there are loads of other combo's but VWR32 has gone and all the rest I can make up are in the 2300$ bracket, ie, R32 , MK4 R32 , R32 VWR.

                                -VW-
