im replacing my oil pan and can't get all the silicone remains off, mainly from the gear box and timing belt side. whats the best product to remove silicone? Also whats good to remove oil/grease residue? gotta get the mating surface clean or the new silicone won't seal properly. is there a product that does both? Cheers!

But try not to damage the mating surfaces. A paint scraper applied gently may be safer than a razor blade.2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

i already used a razor blade which got most of it off but i can't get to the sides very well, it didn't scratch the surface just had to hold at an angle. Tried turps and that seem to smudge the silicone, not get it off. I'll try brakleen, hopefully that gets if off. thanks guys.1.8T AGU | K04 | GIAC | 380cc | VR6 MAF | Custom Intake | FMIC | TIP | 3bar FPR | N75J | 42DD 3-2.5" TB | GFB DV | FK Highsport | ECS Stage 1 Clutch | OZ FUTURA
