Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Bakersfield CHRR 2009!

    That's right.. I'm here and you're not.

Just a few quick pics from today i took with my new little powershot..

Picked up the Dodge Charger hire car from the hire joint at 7:00am this morning after a 13.5 hour non stop flight from Sydney to LAX..

This pretty much sums up the American stereotype, doesn't it? haha

After we did some shopping at an outlet centre (i'm talking VANS, Hurley, DC, anything you can think of.. Got shirts for $10 each and all sorts of stuff.... Crazy), we headed off on the 2.5 hour drive north from LA to Bakersfield. One freeway the whole way.

On the way there we had the pleasure of passing a prison transfer bus, so i snapped off a shot for the hell of it.

First restored Dragster sighting as we were checking in the the Vagabond Inn in Bakersfield this arvo..

And finally sat down and cracked my first beer.. Sam Adams Boston Lager. Some of the best beer you will find in the states, really good stuff.

Tomorrow we're heading out to Famoso hopefully with Rick and the guys to have a look around etc so i'll be sure to snap off lots of pics and post them up for you guys.

Haha Cheers man for the wheels.. I got you something i think you'll like (i really had no idea what to get..) so i hope you like it..

I'm having trouble uploading my 300 or so pics of the 100+ cackle cars (and then there's the race cars..) but i will upload don't you worry.

Got my first Cackle in the Magicar yesterday AND got to mix the 85% myself and everything.. Having a phat time.

Today i got to ride in the back of the truck as we took Scorcher (Australia's first 200mph Fuel Dragster) down the strip for it's first ever push start on 92%.. It was AWESOME!

I also shook hands and chatted with Gene Adams (google him..) and numerous other infamous legends.. And it's only Friday!

Anyways off to have a shower (stinking hot here) and then to the Doubletree motel for tonight's Cacklefest in the carpark (huge!) it's all amazing.

                    ***EDIT***

Here you go guys managed to upload ONE photo from yesterday..

                    Yes, It's CA street registered..

                        Yeah it was pretty cool..

Sorry guys but it looks like you'll have to wait 'till i get home before i can upload these pics. The internet connection won't let me upload anything.. I've tried doing it through email and everything. I've got like 400 or something.. Guess you'll just have to wait. haha.

Oh, and Ray, I managed to get a pic of TV Tommy with the Barnstormer that includes Rick MacDonald (Engine builder) AND Ron Johnson (The owner).. So I'll definitely upload that one.

Still uploading.. I'm capped at the moment (dial up speeds) so it's taking forever. Might go down to the workshop and do it there me thinks..

                          Anyways here's a teaser...

Bill Pitts' Ford Country Squire (Galaxie) wagon Pushcar for the "Magicar".

And here's the Dodge Ram Pushtruck for the "Yeakel Plymoth Special".

About 400 more pics to come..
