  • Got my new baby!!!

    Hi Guys,

My new baby arrived this morning and she is a real beauty. Some observations comparing to the TFSI Jetta I had previously.

    1. With top down you can hear the characteristic "fart" from the exhaust system on upshifts and a nice burble on deceleration. In the Jetta I was never able to hear it, very satisfying.

    2. The ride seems more supple than the Jetta, I'm guessing the suspension is more standard Golf than the Jetta sports suspension. It's much mire a tourer than sporty although it certainly has plenty of pickup despite being 150 KG heavier than the Jetta. Those who have been taken for a spin today have all commented on the smooth and swift acceleration.

    3. Very impressed by the electric seats and particularly the lumbar support that is can be adjusted both in the forard back plane as well as up and down making it possible to shape the seat to suit your individual shape.

    4. DSG seems to be different in this car to the Jetta, not sure how to describe it but is smoother particularly in deceleration. The throttle blip on downshifts is more noticeable and seems to synchronise the revs better giving a smoother downchange.

    5. Wife is very impressed which is of course most important!

    In the showroom looking beautiful

    Happy wife, happy life!!!

Was going to take it for a photo shoot at North Head but it started to rain so will do so at the first opportunity.

    Cheers

    George

Congratulations...the Eos is beautiful,I am sure you will love it as much as you loved the Jetta.
And once again, you chose the right colour...
What ever happened to the Jetta-I am sure it was sold at auction and repaired...you might even see it on the road again if that was the case.
              How funny would that be...

                        We can organise that.......

I was thinking of what my next car could be. Until I randomly found a Golf ball on my bed after not seeing it for 5 years (used it for PE in Junior High). No idea how it got there or where it came from. But it was quite a clear sign IMO..

                          Congrats George!!

I notice the side mirrors on the new Eos are the same shape as those used in Passat CC and now in Golf MK6.

Artarmon is the service centre and parts, I don't think they deliver any car to purchaser from there.

Hehe. I was shopping around for Imprezas and Libertys when I went to the ATM to take out cash for a holding deposit. It was early in the morning and I was the only car around until a mkII Golf GTI parked next to me. Might have possibly swayed me, lol.

Thanks for all the compliments, more I drive it the more I'm liking it! Spent most of Sunday cleaning out the garage, making trips to Vinnies disposing of accumulated household goods in order to make room in the garage, finally found enough room to fit a car inside!

Thanks Anthony, I’m really loving it but will always remember the Jetta as my introduction to VW cars. I would have bought another had I been able to find the right spec available for quick delivery. I’d bet the Jetta was repaired but I’m not sure how it works, my understanding is that the statutory write off register is national so with that VIN it should not be able to be registered in any state. Fixed properly she would have been a good buy, she was in perfect condition and just had the (very expensive) 60,000 KM service carried out.

Thanks Ben, let me tell you she had a fair bit of input in the decision!

Thanks Karen, it’s a beautiful drive. My kids have flown the coop so it’s a good choice for us. It was to be delivered at Artarmon on Friday but I was unable to make it there. They apparently only do Saturday handovers there on the last weekend of the month or something like that so we arranged to pick it up at Chatswood on Saturday. Had to get there early to avoid getting tangled up with the Saturday crowds!

They are a different shape, more aerodynamic, maybe less noise? I actually prefer the Jetta mirror shape for practicality but I’ll get used to it! I like the kerb lighting in the bottom of the mirror, great idea.

Also the handover centre, but not Saturdays apparently!
