Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • written off history

    Hi,
I have a question about written off history car.
One of my friend considered buy BMW 330ci from NSW.
    we've checked history of it.
but there's repaired written off history something and repaired, clear for re-registration bla bla bla.
what if he buy it and re-registered in QLD.
Is the history gonna be eliminated??
also could I check detailed of written off history?

in answer to the first question, no it will still be a write off

and if your second question meant. can you see details of how the car was written off and what not (couldnt really understand what you wrote)

the answer is yes it will say that it was "water damage, front end damage, roll over etc etc.." but it dosnt go into anymore detail than that.
if you want more detail you are going to have to ask the owner but because he is selling it he will most certainly tell you it was a "very minor" crash when it probably wasnt

best off asking him to see pics of the crash and what not

    Good luck anyway man

ask on a BMW forum! lol. a car is only worth as much as you're willing to pay at the end of the day.

or go have a look on carsales, and see what non-write offs are going for, and then decide. i'd be very careful about checking the repairs out properly first though. hth
