The Wire.
Think of all the high tech, expensive stuff in CSI - then go the opposite. policing while the state is broke.
Big on character development, it could take a few episodes to get into.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic
I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is a bloody excellent show.
Its based around a Saturday Night Live type sketch show, following the behind the scenes of making the show. Gets right into how advertising works, who runs the networks etc etc. I love it.
Only ran for 1 series, which is a damn shame but expected given that the show lacks the amount of murder and/or sex scenes required for any show in the States to be successful these days.Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting

Everyone here should check out Breaking Bad. It's up in my top 5 favorite shows ever along with The Sopranos, Mad Men, The Wire and maybe Deadwood, but not many people have heard about it over here. It's made by AMC, the same channel that do Mad Men. It's had two seasons and they are working on a third. Check the Season 1 recap:

Are you into anime? I've been getting into them again when American TV show season ended. Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop were great to watch, and both have very good English dubs as well.

I must admit to a preference to UK comedy and music, so here's a small sample on what's worth a look.
Black Books - Dylan Moran & Bill Bailey
The Office/Extras - Ricky Gervais
QI - Stephen Fry
Micallef - Sean Micallef
Rockwiz - Julia Zemaro & Raymond J
Later With Jools - Jools Holland
For an example of Micallef with his look at Amish Road Rage check out the link.

I never got the whole anime thing until I watched Berserk. Until this day, I would have to say Berserk is the most entertaining, unique, and emotional series I've ever watched - and I mean out of all the "real" series I've seen - and I've seen a hell of a lot lol!2000 Mk IV GTI
