ok call me paranoid, but is it me or are spammers using a new tactic with forums ie , posting questions and having them answered with a answer that includes the product that they are advertising?

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

They're easy to spot yes, but the CAPTCHA system should be preventing the registrations (I can't imagine they're bothering to register two accounts manually, filling in all the details, etc). Maybe the CAPTCHA method needs updating (I believe the older CAPTCHA methods are now beatable by some automated systems - is the CAPTCHA component in vBulletin updatable?Last edited by Manaz; 29-07-2009, 11:50 AM.Nothing to see here...

Spam is really becoming a large problem, i was testing out a forum script on my test server which is live on the net and within hours i have 3 or 4 spam bots on the forum... i was reading online about how there are companies in 3rd world countries which pay people to sit online filling out CAPTCHA questions all day.MK6 GTI - White - 3Door 2012
