  • Plate combo ideas

Ok, I really didn't want to have to post this on but I'm getting new personalised plates and am struggling to find a good combo..

They can either be ABC123, ABC12, 123ABC or 12ABC. Not willing to spend $2,200 on a "Prestige" plate.. But many of the 123ABC types are not available as QT is issuing these plates as standard issue.

I want something that reps VW or my car in some way..

The following are some of my ideas:
    QVW05Y (Mk5)
    QVW08Y (2008-)
    90DUB (or vice-versa)
    OVW05
20DVW - copied this idea from another member on here and this is my combo currently on lay-by (2.0D VW)

    Any suggestions will be appreciated

LOL they are all taken.. So I guess the availability is a limitation also?

PS Would love to steal Chris's plates off his Mk3.. But that's illegal..

        Availability is an issue.
I believe if you really want the plates you can contact ppq and they can contact the plate owner ans ask if they wish to sell them.
Don't quote me on that as i read it online somewhere but i am not sure if it was truthful or not.

        Other potential options:

        814CK
        VWJ37
        20JET
        08JET

Hey thanks for your ideas.. I like 08JET...

But I've decided to go with this combo:

          Silver on black, both slimline.

It never use to be available but now it is (Well, not anymore..)

Thanks, unfortunately they won't be on the cruise as they're only on Lay-By. Probably have them by September.

And yeah i'll be there - wouldn't miss it!

Ps i'd like to point out that my stupid Big W friends thought that it was a reference to Big W... They didn't even make the link that I drive a Volkswagen!!

Pretty cool combo, the colour will work well with the car.

I am assuming the 84 is a birth year and we all know what the Dub stands for.

                          YAY that's what I wanted to see.. I don't think I could pass of as 25 =P

Lay-by periods are 3 months for colourised/euro or 6 months for prestige plates.

While we're on the topic of plates. I wonder if you guys could help me (a little more )

I need to find some plate holders so when I get my new ones, I don't have to drill holes in the rear plates to suit the VW holes. I've already got a full sized holder for the rear plate but now I need to find some slimline ones! Any help on where I could get them would be greatly appreciated.

The phone number on the holder is (03) 586 5829. I only just bought these holders so I didn't think they'd be made that long ago to still have a 7 digit phone number..

If I can't find one.. I'll have to make one (find a metal plate and use it as a backing)..

                              Hey Alex,

Where did you get the plate holders, any branding marks?

Prob a stupid question but if you could find more info, or even take it back to where you got it then maybe they can find you another.
