Has happened before.

"Lucky" is an interesting one though - would it be better to die immediately and painlessly, or live through the recuperation when every bone in your body (except the three in each ear) is broken, and your insides are largely mush?

He was very lucky - I know there was a female skydiver who suffered the injuries I mentioned (though she just ploughed straight into the ground with her 'chute wrapped around her).

I remember around 20 yrs ago, the Perth based SAS did a parachute display over one of the shopping centres on a saturday morning. One of the jumpers ended up punching a big hole straight through the roof of one of the nearby houses
