Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

If I have the option of sitting down in a car or train or driving the same car in metro traffic I prefer to not drive. Given the same option outside the metro area I will always drive. I won't see it but the on demand use of cars instead of ownership will reduce traffic congestion and make the metro area a far nicer place to be. A similar thing happened when cars were first introduced as it removed horses from the road and all the problems that went with them.

I think if even just the autonomy was limited to them moving between "bookings" then that would make a massive difference in traffic. If you think about the amount of downtime most cars have every day it really seems dumb the way we use them here. Shared car schemes are good, but are limited by the types and the locations for them. I really don't see why everyone in inner city terrace house with no off street parking need a mouldy looking car buried under leaves outside their place for the odd trip to ikea and it would be a good place to start with people in those areas holding onto the old bombs to use on a rainy day.
