  • Icy road then a ditch. Close call

Well I driving home from my girlfriends house last night when I failed to notice how icy this particular stretch of road was. I drive this road just about every day and know it like the back of my hand. But at 10:45 last night it caught me of gaurd. I was going way to fast for the conditions. Going around the corner, I lost all traction and slid 10-15m into the a ditch. I was very lucky that the car had stopped the way it did. There is a meaty stump just infront of where the car stopped. Im sure that if i had hit that stump it would of spun the car and rolled my little golf all the way down the paddock.
Called my dad and he came with the 4WD and towed me out. No major body work damage. I drove the car home (10km) and it was fine. Closer inspection this morning shows no damage to the steering.

Of course when I called dad I asked him to bring along the camera

i took out a guide post

        Lucky Lad!

Black ice? We hit some 2 days (going uphill in a straight line!) and lost traction completely. And that was at lunchtime!

Close call for you. Pleased the Little Black One survived. She's a nice car.

Was -1.5degrees yesterday coming to work, tropical this morning coming to work on +1.5 degrees. Nice clear skies and sunny during the days tho. Took the thermals off at midday yesterday. Spanners are cold to work with in the mornings and cuts don't heal very quick in the cooler weather.
