Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Yeah, especially this time of year. Theres often a lot of snow so they put loads of grit down. I hate it. I hate having to use this car in the winter but I have no choice really.

            cheers

                Update!

Dash, centre console and wheel on. Just need to get the carpet sections to cover the wires and a new hazard switch as it doesnt work.

Retro blaupunkt radio converted to play an iPod

Had to make a bracket for the choke as this s1 dash doesnt have a mounting point for it.

                Its like driving another car!

Im still looking for all the heater hoses and the two gold strips for along the front. Chuffed with it though

theres a special tape you can buy that you plug your aux cable into and put in your tape deck, get them from jb and places like that. guessing that is someway the same?

I bought the radio like that and the company who converted it are sadly not around any more.

All I know is it has lots of wires inside and has modern sound quality, no original bits inside, just looks like an original cage with a bunch of wires. The only original bits that work are the knobs so the radio function will never work. Doesnt bother me though since I will be listening to music I like all the time instead of trying to find a good station

I dont have it wired up yet but i cant wait till its done. Iv been driving the car for nearly a year without any music!

There is a tape you can get too as dubdan says wh8ch does the job
