Finally after stripping all the race gear back out, repairing the tree damage (story to tell later) I have welded on the new chassis rails and radiator support and put the first coat of paint on the poor neglected volksee. Next to prep for the grand prix white then the midnight black. God i look forward to having an engine back in the car and giving it a run on the open back roads

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Waneroo track days
I believe they have tuner days for members of the wa sporting car club in which you may not have to have a cams licence but that costs $200 odd bucks to join and every man and his dog is out on the track so you only get a little bit of track time but heaps and heaps of cars on the road so i don't htink it would be a good experience. A level 2 speed licence with cams however only costs $80 so i would go down that road if i were you and the AHG centre has heaps of track days on a good circuit which would suit the golf more than barbagallo77 Golf tarmac rally

Rally gear
Yeah mate I removed the cage before i resprayed the interior since the cage is white and the car orange i thought i might not get paint all over it. Only takes about 2 hours put it back in tack it down then weld the base mounts back in properly. For those who have sprayed a car inside with a cage in there you will know how difficult it is to climb through with all the bars. So glad i stripped it out before i painted it77 Golf tarmac rally

Tow vehicle
Well the volksee has finally left paint for now (white left to do) but the question was which car should have the honour of towing the volksee home, all my mates thought i was crazy and there was no way but i had faith that the tow vehicle had it in her and turned out it did it easy. This is my brothers old car which he rolled, was fixed then wrote the front off into a suzuki which i fixed again then was thrashed every day relentlessly by him and his mates before it retired to our family farm for 3 years. I decided it was time to bring her back so i simply put in some fuel, the battery from my car and after a push down the hill to get some fuel up it started and ran no problems. Just changed the oil and coolant and all filters and it has run with out missing a beat yet. I just use it to run around town and park at the airport when i go to workLast edited by Volksee77; 13-08-2009, 12:31 AM.77 Golf tarmac rally
