  • The rally golf gets first paint coat

Finally after stripping all the race gear back out, repairing the tree damage (story to tell later) I have welded on the new chassis rails and radiator support and put the first coat of paint on the poor neglected volksee. Next to prep for the grand prix white then the midnight black. God i look forward to having an engine back in the car and giving it a run on the open back roads

nice porsche mate! I wouldn't mind getting ny car to Brabagallo. I heard there were open days when you dont need a CAMS license to get your car there. Do you know when?

          Waneroo track days

I believe they have tuner days for members of the wa sporting car club in which you may not have to have a cams licence but that costs $200 odd bucks to join and every man and his dog is out on the track so you only get a little bit of track time but heaps and heaps of cars on the road so i don't htink it would be a good experience. A level 2 speed licence with cams however only costs $80 so i would go down that road if i were you and the AHG centre has heaps of track days on a good circuit which would suit the golf more than barbagallo

              Rally gear

Yeah mate I removed the cage before i resprayed the interior since the cage is white and the car orange i thought i might not get paint all over it. Only takes about 2 hours put it back in tack it down then weld the base mounts back in properly. For those who have sprayed a car inside with a cage in there you will know how difficult it is to climb through with all the bars. So glad i stripped it out before i painted it

It's been a while since a Golf rally car has been on the scene in WA. Service manager at Vic Park dealer had and still may have his ex. But like him, been there done that ... but in a 69 Beetle. I now have wife and 16yo daughter to drain my wallet.

                          Tow vehicle

Well the volksee has finally left paint for now (white left to do) but the question was which car should have the honour of towing the volksee home, all my mates thought i was crazy and there was no way but i had faith that the tow vehicle had it in her and turned out it did it easy. This is my brothers old car which he rolled, was fixed then wrote the front off into a suzuki which i fixed again then was thrashed every day relentlessly by him and his mates before it retired to our family farm for 3 years. I decided it was time to bring her back so i simply put in some fuel, the battery from my car and after a push down the hill to get some fuel up it started and ran no problems. Just changed the oil and coolant and all filters and it has run with out missing a beat yet. I just use it to run around town and park at the airport when i go to work
