Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

                              2 people needed

Odd are that the catch on the front panel is stiff as.... You'll only end up snapping the cable if you heave ho too much. Get another person to press down on the bonnet above the catch (not denting pressure ) and try the cable pull again. If this fails then get some long nose pliers and grip the actual cable under the dash and repeat the process. The idea is that the second person takes the friction of the catch and makes it easier to pull.

If you do manage to open it CRC and then oil the catch, working it until it's freely moving. When you're happy that it is, wipe/blow off the oil and then white grease it. It would also pay you to detach the cable and elevate it to a height where you can slowly drip oil sown into the outer casing. Might need to do that overnight. I know that the best lubricant is graphite but good luck trying to get it in
