Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Probably the last pics I will take of the mk1:(

    Hi ladies and gents,

Just thought I would post some pics of my beloved mk1. I say its probably the last pics because It will be up for sale

...So I will use this as an EOI.

I have put the sale off for the mk1 for long enough and unfortunately I need to sell it.

    Im soo sad lol...

So here she is. I will be creating a for sale thread for it tonight or in the following days. It will have more pics and obviously details about the car.

I just wanted to share with you, my fellow dubbers, my pide and joy. Its not easy letting go of a Mk1 Golf.

    Cheers everyone.

I guess you must have a good reason for letting her go?

If I wasn't up to my arm pits in my current project - I'd be very serious about getting this. I want a Mk1 for my next project, just not quite ready for one atm.

Some one snap this one up!

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

Reason for selling is that it seems silly for me to have 2 cars at this current time. When uni finishes ill start a mk1 project for sure. The VR is a better daily driver but the mk1 is so fun.

The car is not perfect thats for sure. Paint job was done by a retired spraypainter who didnt even use a hot booth. Just sprayed it in his garage. In saying that the paint is still really really good. Today was the first time in 4 years I polished it. I used Autoglym. It didnt need a polish but I had the autoglym from the VR so i thought, what the hey...

It has a modified 1.6 with gti 5 speed in it but would be awesome with a bigger engine

I'm not really a huge fan of mk1's but I'm really impressed with the look of this one!! It actually looks retro, rather then the kind of tired disposition that most Mk1's seem to put across (the ones that havent been tizzied up and polished to an inch of their original selves for show car strutting, that is). I really like it!
