Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • My old Mk1

I sold my beloved '76 Mk1 the other day so I thought I'd just put up some photos to remember it by.

It was an all original (apart from a respray at some point I think) '76 Mk1 that was my reliable daily for over 6 years. When I got it the mileage was an original 15K km.

It's a great car. It's gone to a good home so bear that in mind. They are getting fewer and fewer in that condition these days.

Indeed, I've had my turn and it's time to pass it onto someone who appreciates old Golfs and knows how to treat them. It would have been great to have as a weekend car or something, but I just can't keep it. A new chapter in life awaits.

              Cheers lads.

I didn't really need to advertise it and I didn't need to work hard to sell at the right price. The new ower seems happy with it too.

And for what it's worth, it's gone to Victoria so you might, might get to see it in person some time.

That thing is mint, almost looks like it could have come straight out of the sales brochure. What will you be replacing it with?

Cheers. The photos do it a bit too much justice. It was getting a little rough around the edges but still essentially clean and straight.

I've got a Mk5 now. Not as fun or as reliable, but more comfortable and safer.

Ok, so I haven't been on here in a while, but just now I saw a picture (one I took) of the old Golf appear on my Facebook news feed through a mutual friend (Evorobin). It seems someone on the Mornington Pennisula is now the proud owner of what is now known as Andy!

Anyone know if this new owner is a member here?

                              Cheers.
