Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Thanks for those, I am interested in the GTI rear valance, but do you know the part numbers needed for the conversion?
The antenna will be changed soon.

As for performance parts, trying to stick to insurance atm, as p platers are not favoured with these mods

Nice to see another GT on the forums. Definitely get the GTi front lower lip to fill that void and some side skirts but I wouldn't bother with a GTi rear valance as in my opinion its not to dissimilar to the GTs, unless of course you can get one dirt cheap in the 2nd hand market. If you're going to change the rear end then go for something dramatically different like I did with the R32 rear bar.

Have a read of my thread to get some ideas-

by the way - stubby antenna rocks.

Rear sway bar is a big difference for little bucks, and I doubt the average vehicle inspector would even notice it.

coilovers is a different matter, but the rear sway firms up the cornering a LOT.

Welcome to the diesel gang, going to see more of this as the young blokes get their hands on used GT's, certainly one of the best sleepers for P platers!

just try and use decent fuel, either BP or Caltex Vortex, slightly dearer, but contaminated fuel is your biggest worry in a diesel.

Send me you address, you can have my stubby antenna, I'd rather have radio reception on the longer trips I do, but then I am getting on...

The lip is interesting, but in your thread it states it cost you over $200, that seems a little steep for such a subtle difference.
In terms of the r32 rear, I don't want to take it that far, i want to keep it clean, the sideskirts will help this

I have been looking at your thread for a while for part numbers and the like

Will see how i go on a uni balance haha!

            Will pm you now greg!

not really sure yet, as I'm on P plates, anything i do to the engine will void insurance, and also is illegal
